Thanks to a generous grant, $60 will be discounted from the registration price of $260 for the first 39 students. Funding is limited to district students only. Families are also eligible for seasonal discounts through Camp Invention.

(If you use one of the coupons on the flyer, the coupon discount is on top of the donation amount from the City Schools.)

 

-Registration for the summer program will be open from April 1st at 8AM until April 7th at 8AM.

-Lottery enrollment will take place on April 10th at 4PM with emails sent to families and names posted online shortly after the drawing.

-Waitlist registration will reopen AFTER the enrollment lottery is complete.

WKRG, along with our Golden Apple partners, is thrilled to honor local teachers who are making a difference in the classroom. The Golden Apple Award honors those who believe in the true spirit of teaching by making classrooms a creative and safe place to learn.

Today GSES had a special guest in the building, Bill Riales from WKRG News 5 - along with Mobile County Sheriff's Office, RH Radcliff Homes, Hembree Heating and Air and Rich's Car Wash. They presented Tiffanie Deese with the Golden Apple Award. Congratulations  Tiffanie for your hard work and dedication to make a difference in the classroom!

GULF SHORES ELEMENTARY IS A BLUE RIBBON SCHOOLS OF EXCELLENCE LIGHTHOUSE SCHOOL!
Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence is an organization that uses a comprehensive approach for school improvement. There are nine categories that the organization focuses on when they come to evaluate a school. To be named a Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Lighthouse School, a school has to score an 80% or higher in every category. The categories evaluated are listed below:

1. Student Focus and Support
2. Active Teaching and Learning
3. Leadership and Educational Vitality
4. School Organization and Culture
5. Technology Integration
6. School, Family, and Community Partnerships
7. Challenging Standards and Curriculum
8. Professional Community
9. Indicators of Success

This process includes surveys taken by all faculty/staff, students who are in 3^rd grade and up, and parents. In addition, onsite interviews were conducted with a parent/community focus group, student focus group, and faculty/staff focus group. Two days were spent visiting classrooms, as well as evidence was shared with the evaluation team. This allowed reports and recommendations to be made to the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Board regarding our status of being named a Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Lighthouse School. We are so proud for all our students, faculty and staff, parents and community!
